Apple’s “Unleashed” event, where its homegrown M-series chips could raise the bar for PC performance.
It’s not that Apple’s laptops themselves aren’t important, but in this case they’re not the star. The MacBook Air that Apple introduced about a year ago was more that game changer, raising the performance bar at an affordable price. Today’s announcement for me is more about seeing Apple’s vision for heterogeneous computing as expressed in the balance of battery life and horsepower at a premium price.
This will have implications for Intel, AMD, Nvidia and others in the ecosystem.
